Matt Goss Bord Gais Show In Dublin More Karaoke Than Experience.

Freelance Reporter Dylan Atkinson 17/04/23

Some fans of Matt Goss walked out of his Dublin show last night with many comparing the experience with listening to a pub karaoke night.

Around 220 people attended the gig at Dublin's Bord Gais Theatre.
A theatre which has a seating capacity 2111 with promoters withdrawing over 1700 seats from sale.

The Sunday evening  performance  had fans claiming the former 1980s icon was strangling  Cole Porter / Sinatra classics.  The former Bros frontman previous UK 23 tour shows have also come in for criticism, with shows only being quarter full.

Many devoted fans said it wasn't  the first time they had walked out on his solo shows, but described Goss voice as "awful".
One fan said "He was my favourite 80s artist along with his Brother Luke in Bros. I've seen him live before but this was awful - it was like listening to karaoke.

Goss latest UK tour has not left fans thrilled with shows being cancelled or having reduced seating.

I will say that around 20% of tonight's  audience seemed to have a great evening interacting  with the singer, as he gave away free shots.  Even a few older female Brossette's were trying to mob the singer for autographs at the end of the performance.

However the  reviews for the shows have also not been great for the singer with UK press calling Matt the David Brent of Pop and another citing the show as more cabaret than experience.

Not all reviews were bad with online Blog page Livewire rating
"The show as fantastic...the Matt Goss Experience is just that...an incredible experience"

but weather this was far review is to be seen as we contacted Livewire to ask if they were financially paid to give the review or influenced by obtaining free tickets.

The blog site so far failed to comment which somehow put's their review as somewhat biased.

However a show is only as successful as those who are willing to buy tickets so from a ticket sales point of view Matt UK tour has been stonking flop, only attracting his loyal
fanbase and those who were given opportunity of Free tickets.

  4. How can Matt say the show was a success with thousands of unsold seats.

  5. Great article, I went to this show as the original ticket I purchased was for Belfast. The theatre was not full at all. Matt singing was of key and he spent more time talking about himself than entertaining us who bought tickets and travelled to the show. Never again.
