Concert Review: Matt Goss Falls Flat at Hudderfield's Let’s Rock Festival
At yesterday's Let's Rock festival in Huddersfield, singer Matt Goss took to the stage at 9,30pm for a disappointing performance that failed to resonate with the audience. While acts like Sonia, Kim Wilde, Tony Hadley, Jason Donovan, Marc Almond, Go West and Nick Kershaw had the crowd roaring for more, Goss's set attracted only a sparse group of loyal fans, while other attendees began to vacate the Accu Stadium.
Dressed in a light beige Gucci suit, Goss approached the stage with confidence, but his performance was met with minimal cheers. He delivered is usual outdated Vegas-style set featuring reworked versions of his old Bros songs and covers, most notably a rendition of Stevie Wonder's "Superstition." However, even this classic seemed to struggle to engage with the audience, and it was clear that even his most loyal of fanbase had grown disillusioned with Goss's performance.
Those few who remained for his performance expressed their frustration. One Attendee said “The festival has been great all day with upbeat acts that got everyone singing along, but Matt Goss was just boring. His music doesn’t reflect the 80s vibe at all; the only decent part was his cover of the Stevie Wonder song,”
Another fan of Bros said, “I used to love them back in the day, but Matt has ruined the vibe of those brilliant songs with his tired vegas reworkings.”
After his lackluster set, Goss awkwardly encouraged the small audience to applaud his band, receiving only tepid claps from around 20 people in the crowd. In a cringe-worthy moment, he attempted to try and win over the small Yorkshire crowd, claiming they were the best people in the world, while raising a class—a move that fell flatter than a yorkishire man flat cap and received little response.
The ex Bros frontmant is also under investigation for fraudulent streaming practices and had over 160,000 fake monthly listeners removed from his spoitfy platform and has seen significant setbacks in his solo career, with him selling less than 30,000 albums being sold worldwide over his 35 years as solo artist and his latest single a mere 50 copies since its release back in April.
Fans of Bros expressed disappointment that Goss had tarnished the songs that once made him famous, with many finding his self-centered persona inauthentic and grating. The festival itself is also facing backlash due to resurfaced allegations about Goss and his management team back in 2021 involving accusations of bullying a young male, with the festival being accused of promoting bullying by allowing Matt To to perform.
We reached out to Let’s Rock for a comment but have yet to receive a response. Overall, Goss's performance at the Let’s Rock festival was a stark reminder of how he ego and narcissitic persona has ruined his career and the legacy of the band BROS.

Even though I wasn’t born in the 80s, I appreciate the music, and the festival was amazing. Sonia, Kim Wilde, and Jason Donovan were outstanding performances, with the whole day having great atmosphere. I had never heard of Matt Goss before, so I decided to stick around for his set. After just 15 minutes, I was completely bored and ended up going home early. He really brought down the vibe of the festival, as he set was rat pack and not 80s and it was clear that not many people were paying attention to his performance either.
ReplyDeleteKim Wild and Jason Donavan looked and sounded fantastic. Matt Goss simply dreadful.
