This marks the first time tha Pink Floyd has secured two Number 1 albums in a single year. Additionally, they have overtaken The Beatles for the longest gap between their first and last Number 1 albums.  Pink Floyd’s *Wish You Were Here* has been named this year’s Official Christmas Number 1 album.

The group released a 50th-anniversary reissue of *Wish You Were Here*, available in both digital and physical formats. This special edition includes six previously unreleased alternate versions and demos of the legendary album. Remarkably, it also marks 50 years since *Wish You Were Here* first topped the Official Albums Chart in 1975, creating a full-circle moment for the band.

As a result, Pink Floyd now holds the record for the longest span between their first Number 1 album and their last, totaling over 50 years (or 2,620 weeks). They have surpassed The Beatles, whose *Abbey Road* previously held the record with a gap of 49 years and 252 days between number one hits, first reaching the top in 1969 and regaining the spot in 2019.

This achievement follows Pink Floyd's second Number 1 album of the year, *Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII*, a live album from their 1971 performance that was turned into a film in 1972. The album and film were digitally remastered from the original 35mm footage, with newly mixed audio by Steven Wilson, and re-released in 2025.

This marks the first time the band has claimed two Number 1 albums within the same year.  Furthermore, this is not the first time the band has tasted success during the holiday season. Although this is their first Christmas album, they achieved the coveted Christmas Number 1 single in 1979 with the iconic "Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 2."

*Wish You Were Here* also topped this week’s Official Album Vinyl Chart, selling the most vinyl copies in the past seven days. It also reached the summit of the Official Record Store Chart, making it the most popular album in UK independent record shops this week.  One of the greatest rock bands of all time continues to shine
