Matt Goss Butlins 80's Weekend Set fails To Ignite The Crowd.
Matt Goss, the former frontman of the popular 80s pop band Bros, has faced significant challenges in achieving commercial success as a solo artist over the past 35 years since the band disbanded.
Despite his efforts, he has sold fewer than 30,000 combined unit's with five studio albums and 21 singles worldwide.
Although Matt presents himself as a world-class singer, his tours have often resulted in financial difficulties and low turn -out, leading him to now reevaluate his career. The singer has now taken to perform at 80s-themed festivals to generate income and try and revive his past days of glory.
Even at these events, he has faced criticism, from fans and festival-goers labeling his performances as dull, tried and uninspiring. Recently, Matt took the stage at the initmate studio 36 room at Skegness Butlins Big Weekender's 80s party.
While other acts, such as Go West, set the crowd alight with high-energy renditions of their timeless hits, Matt Goss's performance on saturday night failed to resonate in the same way.
He sang to a few hundred attendees, with around 100 whom were merely his loyal fans wearing bros tshirts, while the majority of the audience appeared disengaged and unimpressed by his swing reinterpretations of Bros classics.
Dressed in a black blazer, black jeans, and a signature hat, Matt attempted to infuse energy into his set by trying to dance and encouraging the crowd to sing along. However, out of the hundreds present, only about 50 people seemed willing to participate.
The overall atmosphere was lackluster, with attendees expressing that his music felt tired and outdated. Some even remarked that they would never consider paying to see him perform again.
As the performance progressed, it became evident that the once teen star's appeal has faded, leaving many to question including his loyal fan base why he sings the vegas version of bros song and not the original format.

Matt perfomnace was shocking. the room studio 36 was not full with loads of space to move around and the usual 50 or so fans singing and supporting him.
ReplyDeleteSame old tripe from Matt.
ReplyDeleteAwful performance
ReplyDeleteButlins 80s event is a great weekend but Matt's performance on Saturday was not in with 80s vibe. He was out of Key and to be honest he swing style so 10 years ago. I saw Matt in Vegas and he wasn't great then.
ReplyDeleteAs the studio 36 event was free and part of the '80s weekend, I was excited to see who was performaning as the previous night events were amazing. Unfortunately, this time Studio 36 was only half full, with maybe around 700 people there, if that. My friends and I didn’t specifically come to see the act; we were just hoping to enjoy some 80's disco as we were exploring every room. We ended up watching Matt for about 15 minutes before leaving, and we felt let down. I had never heard of him, being only 24 so I asked who he was, a mature lady said he was from a band called Bros. We were puzzled and disappointed to why he was singing jazz and swing type music at an '80s event. While some people were really into his performance, the majority didn't. There were a small group of women wearing Bros T-shirts singing along, but it just didn’t resonate with us. After about 15 minutes of his set, we decided to leave, feeling disappointed and questioning what had we just watched.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't recommed him. if i had to rate the act i would say 1star out 5 just for the effort.
He was dire.💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩
ReplyDeleteWorst performance I seen in years at Butlins. I won't go again to Butlins if Matt there.
ReplyDeleteAs a fan of Matt and have been for years. I found myself no longer following his career. He can be very rude if you criticise him in anyway. He expects to you praise him as he thinks he owed that recognition.
ReplyDeleteMatt didn't impress us .
ReplyDeleteMatt had his day now. He can no longer sing he should just retire.
ReplyDeleteI saw Matt perform in Vegas at the Gossy Room, where the audience was remarkably small—only about 20 people, He was rude and unprofessional. I also saw him at Butlin's the other day as I was at the event with my hubby and close friends, and I must say, his routine hasn't evolved much over time. Unfortunately, the crowd was not really impressed with Matt's act. It was evident that the audience wasn't captivated by Matt , which shows that he might need to rethink his musical approach to engage his audience better.
