Heather Small disappoints fans with a short 20-minute set.
The former M. People singer Heather Small left many fans disappointed after her concert in Greater Manchester on Saturday, November 29, 2025.
Fans expressed feeling "mis-sold" after buying tickets. The 60-year-old R&B artist, known for popular songs like "Proud" and "Moving On Up," performed at Manchester Cathedral as part of the Echoes live music series, which also featured acts like Peter Andre and the Vengaboys.
Fans who paid over £40 for tickets were upset when Heather didn’t appear on stage until after 10pm and only performed for about 25 minutes using a backing track. Some audience members even accused her of miming. Karen Morris and her friend Gayle traveled from Stoke-on-Trent to see the performance. Karen said, “When you pay for tickets to see someone like Heather, you expect more than 25 minutes.
Her set was disappointing, and there was no live band—just a backing track. At times, it seemed like she was miming.” The event, organized by JBM Music, opened its doors at 6pm, with the last entry at 8pm.
Fans thought they were in for a good night when they arrived at around 7pm and heard the DJ music playing. However, they reported seeing the singer arrive around 9:50pm, and she finally came on stage at 10:20pm.
Some fans reported that security was pushing through the crowd when she appeared. Several fans took to social media to share their frustration.
Paul Turner wrote on a ticket platform, “Doors opened at 6pm. Heather Small came on at 10:15pm, sang five songs, and left by 10:35pm. I felt completely ripped off and wasted an evening out with friends. We were all very disappointed.”
Another fan, Paul Lewis, said, “It was an absolutely great night, but Heather Small was only on stage for 30 minutes. It felt like a waste of time.”
Caroline Young commented, “The venue was nice, but we went in thinking she’d perform around 8pm, and then learned she wouldn’t be on until 10pm. We went to get food and found out we couldn’t come back in.” Caroline Sheret shared her disappointment, stating, “It was appalling.
The show was misrepresented as an evening with Heather Small. She performed for just 21 minutes, and the sound system was terrible, so we couldn’t hear anything. Most of the people around us were unhappy. I believe we deserve a full refund.”
On the organizer's Facebook page, Helen Claire Lyon wrote, “Live in concert with Heather Small? More like a 20-minute guest appearance! Absolutely awful. #Refund.”
We reached out to JBM Music for their comments but have yet to receive a response
Heather was awful and a waste of money.
