Matt Goss, More David Brent at Rewind Festival.

Ex Bros frontman and Vegas crooner Matt Goss performed at the Henley on Thames Rewind Festival this weekend, an event known for its lively atmosphere. While artists like Holly Johnson, Midge Ure, T’Pau, and Chesney Hawkes engaged with the crowd with energetic performances, Goss again struggled to connect with the audience.

His tired and outdated swing-infused versions of Bros classics, like "Drop the Boy," fell flat, leaving many attendees looking bored and unimpressed. Goss’s reinterpretations were dull and overshadowed the original songs 80's beat.

Many noticed that he had difficulty hitting the high notes he once sang effortlessly with many saying it was like watching David Brent on stage (Ricky Gervais' Character from The Office). Attendees felt his Vegas-style act clashed with the festival's '80s pop-spirited vibe, which celebrated dance, energy, and audience participation.

The singer tried to get the crowd to sing along to his rework of Bros' classic hits, but not many did. Some described his performance as tired, lackluster, and dull, comparing his dancing to that of a well-meaning grandfather, rather than the dynamic energy expected at the event.

Many attendees deemed his set over hyped and the least impressive they had seen at the festival, highlighting how it contrasted sharply with the other acts' performances.  Overall, Goss’s performance left the majority of festival goers unimpressed, while some of his devoted fans long for a more authentic connection to the music of 80's Bros.
