Matt Goss Portsmouth Show Is A Complete Flop With Dismal Ticket Sales

Editor Stephen Hill 17th April 2025

Promoters Phil McIntyre have made significant adjustments for tonight’s Matt Goss show at Portsmouth Guildhall, slashing ticket prices and reducing seating as they grapple with the financial fallout from what has sadly turned into a lackluster tour.

Matt Goss, who marketed this tour as a “night never to be forgotten” has found himself under fire from fans disappointed by the inflated expectations surrounding what many deem a failed venture.   To date, the promoters have had to cancel five shows, with cities like Manchester, Hull, Plymouth, Belfast, and Dublin left without performances.

Many other venues have experienced a similar fate, with reduced seating due to poor ticket sales—London is the only show that was 97% sold-out.
As for tonight, fewer than 560 tickets have been sold, leaving an overwhelming 1,449 tickets unsold.  The former Bros frontman has been grappling with dismal attendance figures across the last 14 shows, leading to significant financial strain on the promoters. While most events have undergone seating reductions, London still saw steep price cuts, making tickets available for as little as £5 to £15.

Fans have delivered a mixed bag of reviews; some describe the performance as lackluster and criticize Goss as an overhyped cabaret act. Yet, among his small but dedicated group of loyal fans—who often attend for the affordable tickets—there are those who passionately insist that the show was a fabulous experience.

  2. Matt's performance was ok but the show was nothing more than a cheap cabaret act you could see in any working men's club for £5🤣

  3. Wasn't impressed with the performance and still having load of issues with merchandise that i ordered. I've had to report the singer and his management team to trading standards to obtain my back. A complete shambles.

  4. Matt Goss has had his day , and now he’s begging for fans to show up to his shows. In a recent live stream, he actually asked everyone to buy at least five tickets for his last two performances and to call in sick to work. It’s a bit of a last-ditch effort to get people there!
