Matt Goss Cancels Manchester Show Due To Dismal Ticket Sales Of Just 400.

Promoters Phil McIntyre have made the difficult decision to cancel Matt Goss's Manchester "Hits and More" concert at the Manchester O2 Apollo due to alarmingly low ticket sales. Despite efforts to boost attendance—such as closing off the top floor and slashing ticket prices—the reality hit hard when only just under 400 tickets were sold, leading to the announcement of the cancellation on Friday, April 11, via Ticketmaster.
The former frontman of Bros has struggled to draw crowds over his last 12 performances, resulting in significant financial setbacks for the promoters. Most shows required reduced seating to accommodate dwindling interest, with the exception of the London event. Even there, ticket prices dipped dramatically, with offers as low as £5 to £15 in a bid to attract fans. In our pursuit to understand this troubling trend, we reached out to 02 apollo and Ticketmaster, who confirmed that the cancellation stemmed directly from disappointing ticket sales.
They stressed that both the promoters and the venue put forth extraordinary efforts to promote the event, but ultimately, the interest simply wasn't there for the former 80s pop star. This situation serves as a powerful reminder of the unpredictable nature of the music industry. Even artists with once established legacies can face formidable challenges in drawing audiences.
How bad is it when you just receive email of cancellation and no formal response for Matt. 😡
ReplyDeleteAnother cancelled show it's clear the Matt does not give fuck about his fans.
ReplyDeleteMatt might benefit from recognizing that his fan base has diminished. It would be helpful for him to surround himself with honest individuals who feel comfortable providing constructive feedback. This could lead to valuable insights and help him grow as an artist.
ReplyDeleteI purchased tickets and accommodations for this concert, which was quite an expense for me. It appears that Matt was aware for some time that his Manchester show might not sell out, and I wish he had made the decision to cancel earlier. Unfortunately, this is the third time I’ve experienced a cancellation with his concerts, so I will doubt i will be attending any future Matt Goss performances.
ReplyDeleteMatt is a narcissist and often lies. His music is dull, old-fashioned, and low quality.
ReplyDeleteIt is highly unprofessional and disrespectful when an artist like Matt Goss treats paying fans poorly. The inability to sell out shows is not the fault of the fans; perhaps he should focus less on self-promotion and more on engaging with his audience respectfully. I personally will never buy another ticket to Matt show ever again. in fact I've now unfollowed him on all my social platforms.
ReplyDeleteSouthampton Guildhall doesn't look busy tonight.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he should play at smaller theatres -- He is being a bit ambitious thinking he can sell out 2000+ places in todays financial times and so many years after his peak
ReplyDeleteHe begged fans to buy up to 10 tickets each on his live.
