Lady Gaga is on the verge of achieving her fifth UK number one album with *Mayhem*, according to the Official Charts Company.
The 38-year-old artist, born Stefani Germanotta, is currently outselling Jennie, the K-pop star from Blackpink, whose solo album *Ruby* is in the second spot.
If *Mayhem* reaches number one, it will join Gaga’s stellar legacy, alongside *The Fame* (2008), *Born This Way* (2011), *Artpop* (2013), and *Chromatica* (2020).
Recorded at Shangri-La Studios near her Malibu home, this seventh studio album features 14 tracks, including the inspiring collaboration with Bruno Mars, "Die With A Smile." Since its release last Friday, it has garnered high praise, with *The Guardian* highlighting its return to her core themes of sex, sleaze, and celebrity while sounding “not retro, but relevant.”
Beginning her journey in the early 2000s, Gaga has soared to greatness, amassing six UK number one singles such as "Poker Face," "Bad Romance," and "Telephone," along with an impressive collection of 14 Grammy Awards.
As it stands on Monday, the top five albums also include Sabrina Carpenter’s 2024 release, *Short N’ Sweet*, The Wildhearts’ *Satanic Rights of the Wildhearts*, and Sam Fender’s *People Watching*. Additionally, the legendary prog rock band Jethro Tull is poised to secure their eighth UK top 10 album with *Curious Ruminant*, while the rising rock band HotWax proudly sees their debut album, *Hot Shock*, in the top 10 as well
