A new day dawns on the Official Singles Chart as Alex Warren has courageously overtaken Chappell Roan in the endeavor for the UK's Number 1 single.
After Sunday’s Official Chart: First Look, Chappell seemed set to retain her position with her powerful country-pop anthem, "The Giver." However, rising US singer-songwriter Alex Warren has arisen as a formidable contender.

"Ordinary," Alex's latest release, is making significant strides. Once a TikTok star in the 'Hype House,' he has transitioned seamlessly into a music career, proving that determination pays off.
His recent successes are a testament to resilience, with his chamber pop ballad – influenced by the greats Hozier and Florence + The Machine – becoming his first entry into the UK Top 10, now on the brink of reaching the top.  Currently, "Ordinary" proudly leads the Official Singles Chart.

With just two days of tracking remaining, Chappell is racing to catch up. According to the Official Charts Company, under 600 chart units separate Alex from Chappell, offering a thrilling climax to this week’s competition.  Alex Warren’s journey exemplifies hard work and perseverance.

He debuted on the Official Singles Chart last year, with "Before You Leave Me" reaching Number 80 in May 2024. By year’s end, he had celebrated two Top 40 hits: "Carry You Home" peaked at Number 23, and "Burning Down" at Number 33.

"Ordinary" represents his first single of the new year, poised to be a defining hit from his debut studio album. It debuted at Number 7 on February 14, 2025, and is now charting at an impressive Number 2.  Chappell has made her mark as well, holding the top spot with her electrifying synth-pop anthem "Pink Pony Club."

After a groundbreaking year in 2024, where "Good Luck, Babe!" soared to Number 2 and she added a third Top 10 hit with "HOT TO GO!" from her debut album, "The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess," she is ready to launch "The Giver" as the second single from her upcoming album.

This project will feature "Good Luck, Babe!" and the beloved unreleased track "The Subway," which she passionately performed during her tour.  Stay tuned for inspiring updates on the Official Charts and our social media about this week's powerful race for the Number 1 single. The winner will be revealed live by Jack Saunders on the Official Chart Show on BBC Radio 1 at 5:45 PM on Friday, March 21.
