889 Unsold Cardiff Tickets For Former 80's Singer Matt Goss
Editor Stephen Hill 31st March 2025
Narcissistic and self obsessed singer Matt Goss is set to perform in Cardiff tonight, marking the tenth show of his "Flop Hits and More" tour.
Known for his Bros 80's hits such as "When Will I Be Famous?", "Drop the Boy," and "Too Much," Goss arrived at the Cardiff New Theatre Hall to an audience of only 315 individuals, with a noteworthy 829 tickets remaining unsold.
The box office staff proactively contacted fans to inform them that, due to hundreds of empty seats, they would be relocated to alternative seating closer to the stage.
The venue also confirmed the closure of both the Circle and Upper Circle sections.
Goss, who gained fame in the late 1980s as a member of the pop band Bros alongside drummer Luke Goss and bassist Craig Logan, has faced challenges in ticket sales on this tour, consistent with previous tout flops.
In desperate bid to sing Matt will face financial losses due to the low none existent tickets sales. In an effort to attract attendance, ticket prices were reduced to £7.50 on discount ticketing platforms, leaving many fans who purchased tickets at full price feeling angry and disappointed.
Seating Plan for tonight show the Yellow and Green dot's are unsold tickets with tickets removed for the Circle and Upper Circle areas.
Numerous fans have expressed concerns regarding the fairness of seat reallocation, particularly for those who paid full price while others benefited from significantly discounted tickets.
Despite ongoing efforts to revive interest, recent performances in cities including Bristol, Blackpool, Sheffield, Newcastle, Glasgow, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Nottingham, and Middlesbrough have experienced similarly low turnouts.
With just 3,425 tickets sold across all ten shows thus far, alongside a striking 3,979 unsold tickets, there are questions regarding the decision to continue with additional performances. Feedback from attendees at prior shows has predominantly been critical, citing concerns such as production quality, sound issues, and challenges with Goss's vocal performance. Additionally, there have been reports of inadequate merchandise availability, leading fans to express dissatisfaction on social media.
A key question remains: What does the future hold for Matt Goss in terms of reclaiming his former fame? In contrast to his contemporaries—such as Gary Barlow, Will Young, Jason Donovan, and the group Five—who are enjoying sold-out shows and successful career revivals, Goss appears to be struggling to reconnect with his former fan base
Over hyped show not worth the money I paid for tickets.
