Music Industry Moves: Metallica's All Within My Hands Foundation Donates $500,000 to L.A Fire Relief.
Metallica's All Within My Hands Foundation is stepping up to support those impacted by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, donating an impressive $500,000 to relief efforts managed by the California Community Foundation's Wildfire Recovery Fund and the Pasadena Community Foundation's Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund.
Since January 7, the wildfires have wreaked havoc across the city, resulting in extensive destruction. Although there has been some progress in containment, officials are urging residents to stay alert, as the Santa Ana winds are expected to return, potentially complicating recovery efforts.
The California Community Foundation (CCF) is dedicated to prioritizing assistance for underserved communities by collaborating with local organizations and government agencies. Utilizing critical data from CalFire and the CDC's Social Vulnerability Index, CCF is focusing on rebuilding vital infrastructure like emergency communication systems while also providing financial disaster assistance, labor law education, and immigration services to vulnerable workers and families.
Simultaneously, the Pasadena Community Foundation (PCF) has established the Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund, aimed at addressing immediate needs while laying the groundwork for long-term recovery after the flames are extinguished. This proactive approach ensures that support is available as the community begins the challenging process of rebuilding. The iconic band, fronted by James Hetfield, has poignantly expressed, “In the past week, our community has lost at least 24 lives, with nearly 100,000 people under evacuation orders.
With 40,000 acres burned and over 12,000 structures—both commercial and residential—destroyed, numbers cannot capture the profound anguish resulting from this disaster.” Metallica's generous donation comes shortly after BeyoncĂ© announced a remarkable $2.5 million contribution to the LA Fire Relief Fund through her BeyGOOD Foundation, demonstrating solidarity with those affected. Her foundation's recent Instagram post states, "Los Angeles, we stand with you. BeyGOOD is mobilizing by announcing the LA Fire Relief Fund with a donation of $2.5 million."
This fund specifically aims to support families in the Altadena/Pasadena area who have lost their homes, as well as provide assistance to churches and community centers addressing the urgent needs of the wildfire victims. Amidst these efforts, the Grammy Awards are set to proceed as scheduled in Los Angeles, but with a "renewed sense of purpose."
Initially, there were concerns that the ceremony, taking place on February 2 at the Crypto.com Arena, might be canceled due to the tragic wildfires claiming at least 24 lives. However, leadership from the Recording Academy and MusiCares has assured attendees that the event will move forward, with a focus on raising funds for relief efforts. The message, shared by CNN reporter Elizabeth Wagmeister on X, resonates deeply: “Dear Recording Academy Members, our hearts go out to everyone affected by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles.” Let's unite in support of our community during this critical time
Great to band donate so much money .
