Following Olly's Eurovision Song performance, the singer has announced his decision to pursue a solo career, marking the end of his time with  the band Years & Years.
Despite finishing 18th in the competition and receiving no public points, Olly assured his fans during his performance at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend that Years & Years would not be making a comeback.

His participation in the Eurovision Song Contest was announced in December 2023, and he expressed his excitement about releasing music under his own name.
Years & Years, formed in 2010, experienced changes in its lineup over the years, ultimately leading to the band's decision to transition into a solo project led by Olly.
This change was confirmed in January 2022, signifying the end of the band's journey together.

The bands original line up consisted of  Olly Alexander, Mikey Goldsworthy, Noel Leeman, Emre Türkmen and released their first single "I Wish I Knew" in July, 2012, before welcoming fifth member Olivier Subria.

Band Members Olivier and Noel eventually embarked on their own ventures away from the band with Olly, Mikey and Emre taking the reins and releasing Years & Years' second single "Traps" in September 2013.

They reached the top of the charts the following year with their song "Take Shelter."  The group went on to release another string of hits for several years but in March, 2021, the band announced their next project would essentially be a solo project by Olly Alexander, to be released under the group's name.
In January, 2022, Olly revealed the band had gone their separate ways as they began to disagree "more and more.
