 'XXV' TOPS THE OFFICIAL ALBUMS CHART, BECOMING ROBBIE’S 14TH NUMBER 1 SOLO ALBUM.

Robbie Williams has broken records by securing his 14th number one solo album with his latest release XXV.

  The singer, now 48, stormed to the top of the UK's Official Albums Chart on Friday, beating Elvis Presley's previous record as the solo artist with the most UK number one albums .

Only The Beatles have achieved more number one albums, with the group having 15 top ranking discs across their career
  Speaking on his achievement, Robbie says: “Thank you to everyone who’s supported the album: everyone who’s bought it, streamed it, downloaded it and reviewed it. I’m so pleased that it’s gone to Number 1.

Robbie went on to say " whilst it feels strange to be receiving an award during these sombre times, I wanted to thank you all for your support and dedicate this to the fans, who I never take for granted. I really appreciate it, thank you so much.

Robbie who was thrown out of Take that back in the mid nineties by band members Howard Donald, Gary Barlow and Jason Orange with only Mark Owen supporting Robbie as certainly had the last laugh as he now the most successful solo artist in UK music history beating that of any of his Take That co members.

Robbie released XXV in the UK on September 9 and album celebrates 25 years of the pop star as a solo artist, featuring many of his smash hits newly orchestrated by Jules Buckley, Guy Chambers and Steve Sidwell, and re-recorded with the acclaimed Metropole Orkest in The Netherlands.  

Tracks include Let Me Entertain You, Millennium, Bodies, Rock DJ, Kids and Angels, previously released with Kylie Minogue.    It comes after Robbie publicly invited Kylie Minogue to perform their 2000 duet Kids with him at the AFL Grand Final
